Course Description:

We will explore textures through creative works that will allow young artists the ability to actually feel various mediums, like different types of paints, substrates, and fillers to build up their fine motor skills and artistic experiences.  Sensory play may be incorporated, along with story time and music to enhance our creative space and bonding relationships between young artist and parent, as well as peers and art teacher.

Children between the ages of 3-6 years old should enroll and attend class with his or her parent or adult guardian.  Parents are still encouraged to attend with children ages 7-9 years old, but he or she may attend without a parent if ready skill-wise and behaviorally. Cost of the class includes $200 tuition for the year and $60 fee for art supplies.

Mixed Media Art 1

Course Description:

Mixed media allows for artists to use a multitude of mediums combined in each individual artwork. We will use mediums such as acrylics, watercolors, inks, speciality papers, texture pastes, and so much more throughout the school year. Each artist will delve into a journey of new beginnings, self discovery, and God’s world. Some of the exciting journey will include whimsical drawing and painting, Plein Air, sketching, nature studies, monoprinting, face mapping, and art journaling.

We will also study real life working artists of today and form a connection with him or her by creating projects reminiscent of the artist’s unique style. This class artwork may be shared on Instagram under Tintedowl and on Facebook under Moon Bird Arts, as well as Reclaim Arts Academy. These working artists may comment and dialogue with the class regarding artwork. It is highly encouraged that your artist practice learned skills at home and out of the classroom.  Some projects will need to be worked on at home as art homework.  Please send your artist to class prepared with supplies and work. Cost of the class includes $200 tuition for the year and $75 fee for art supplies.

Advanced Art Studio

This class is a unique, shared studio experience where students enrolled in Fiber Painting and Art 3 work side by side in the same session.

Guided by the same instructor, students will receive individualized instruction tailored to their specific focus. This format allows for personalized growth in a collaborative, creative environment—similar to a one-room schoolhouse, where multiple levels thrive together. This beginners acting class is full of creativity, movement and fun geared toward young students. Basic theater etiquette will be introduced, along with theatre etiquette: how to behave on stage, back stage, and as an audience member.

Drama Playhouse is a class geared to help students feel comfortable speaking in front of others, improvising, and playing games. It will give students an opportunity to practice those skills using fun, engaging activities and games. This class will focus more on dramatic play instead of theatrical productions. Students will learn how to confidently speak, project their voices, work out different emotions and practice cooperation and collaboration. Drama Playhouse will be structured in such a way that every student has the opportunity grow and stretch their skills without the pressure of performing roles or memorizing scripts. We will utilize short poems and small monologues in addition to drama games. This class is ideal for students who are not ready for full length plays/musicals or those who do not want to further pursue acting. Cost of the class includes $200 tuition for the year and $30 fee for scripts and supplies and $45 costume fee.

Chorale is an advanced choral ensemble for students ages 12-18. Regular at home practice is mandatory and audio homework submissions frequently required.

Music Theory & Sight Singing is a class where students learn the basics of music theory, and put it into practical use through sight-reading. Students will learn the fundamentals of music language through the foundations of music theory: notes, rests, clefs, staff, pitch, rhythm, meter, dynamics, tempo, articulation, flats, sharps, enharmonics, key signatures, and scales.

Students will then learn solfege syllables and hand signs. The combination of music theory fundamentals and solfege are the basis of sight-singing. Cost of the class includes $100 tuition for the year and $25 for handouts and the book ‘Sing at First Sight.’

Beginning Strings

No prior experience is necessary to begin playing a musical instrument. Beginning instrumental instruction will place an emphasis on the development of correct right and left hand techniques and posture. Students can choose from violin, viola, cello and string bass.

Students will learn to play tunes by ear as well as learning to read music notation. Students will also learn bowing techniques, ear training, intonation, and music theory.

Students will learn to read rhythms, how to produce various dynamic and articulative styles as well as musical sensitivity and performance skills.

Students are requested to practice their instrument on a daily basis for 15 – 30 minutes or more. Parents are strongly encouraged to support their young students by maintaining a good practice routine, praising good effort, and listening to music at home. Your teacher will have resources to compliment this aspect of your child’s musical education. Mid-week lessons available as requested.

We will explore the many ways our bodies can move through dynamic games, dancing, flexibility training, and fun! Between 6 and 9 years old, children develop better balance, coordination, strength, and endurance, enabling them to perform more complex movements with greater precision. This class is a great precursor to any dance, theatre, and aerial acrobatic classes students may take in the future. A significant correlation also exists between physical activity, improved cognitive function, and enhanced brain structure. Our class activities work within this correlation to give students a structured opportunity to strengthen their foundational creative movement which in turn enhances their cognitive development as well. Class Description:
This class will challenge our experienced dancers with the aim of helping our students learn to pick up choreography quickly and effectively, as is expected in the dance world. Contemporary Christian music will be used with our multi-part choreography pieces. Any music outside the contemporary Christian realm will be utilized only after obtaining approval from all students’ parents. This class will feature one performance in the Fall and a Spring focus on taking hip-hop classes at studios with which we’ve established close relationships in the area (Burnet/Austin). In spring we will have one “field trip” per month to a different studio, and one regular Tuesday class per month. This new element will introduce our Adv. Hip Hop students to the experience of learning from various choreographers while also discovering the meaning of going and making disciples in a practical and life-giving way (Matt. 28:19). Our main objective remains the same: to continue growing in our relationship with God through dance while actively engaging in our community. Strength & Grace Aerial Class

Class Description:

Strength & Grace is a special class that builds a solid physical foundation at your body’s core, as well as grounding your mind and spirit through prayer and mindfulness. It incorporates conditioning, stretching, breathing exercises, core muscle work, somatic activities, and Pilates. We utilize the silks as our apparatus of choice, along with simple athletic equipment, such as bands, the Pilates ball, and foam blocks. Our goal is to provide our bodies with strength without stressing our joints out. We will be striving for balance, better posture, enhanced flexibility, and coordination, and keeping injuries at bay. ALL FITNESS LEVELS encouraged. Modifications introduced as needed.

• Pre-requisite: None, all levels welcomed 
• Please bring a water bottle, mat, and sweat towel to class.
• Additional Supplies/Cost: 2 foam  rectangle blocks, a small Pilates ball, finger strengthener, & handgrip strengthener. You can bring your own or order from instructor.

Discover the magic of flight in our Beginning Lyra class! This class is perfect for those brand new to aerial arts or looking to build a strong foundation. You’ll learn fundamental mounts, poses, and transitions on the aerial hoop while building strength, flexibility, and body awareness.

No experience is necessary—just bring your curiosity and a willingness to try something new. Come fly with us! The class will be learning at least one choreographed routine per semester to showcase new found skills.
